Hey! I am new to this forum. My name is Tiffany and I am originally from NYC. I was just wondering if anyone has read Make it Happen by Kevin Liles, the former Def Jam president. I heard it really depicts the hip hope culture and the music industry. anyone?

the message.
Fake thug, no love, you get the slug cb4 gutso
Your luck LOW, I didn't know 'till I was drunk though
You freak niggaz played out, get fucked then ate out
Prostitute turned bitch, I got the gauge out
96 ways I made out Montana way the good f-e-l-l-a
Verbal a-k spray dipped attache jumped out the range
Empty out the ashtray, a glass of zay
Make a man Cassius Clay
Red do plots, murder schemes 32
Shotguns regulate with my dunns
17 rocks gleam from one ring
Yo let me let y'all niggaz know one thing
There's one life, one love, so there can only be one King
The highlights of living, Vegas style roll vice in linen
Antera's spinning on milleniums
20 G bets I'm winning them
Threats I'm sending them, lex with t.v. set the minimum
I'll sex adrenaline
Party with villians
A case of demi-sec to chase the henny
Wet any clique with the semi-tech who want it
Diamonds I flaunt 'em
Chicken heads flock I lace 'em, fried
Broiled, amaze 'em, taste 'em, place
they clit way out of formation
It's horizontal how I have 'em
Fucking me in the benz wagon
Can it be vanity from last dragon
Grab gun it's on though, shit is grimy
Real niggaz buck in broad daylight with
The broke mac it won't spray right
Don't give a fuck what they hear as
long as the dram's lit
Yo overnight thugs, bug because they ain't promised shit
Hungry-ass holligans stay on that piranha shit

I peeped you frontin, I was in the jeep
Sunk in the seat tinted with heat beats bumpin
Across the streat you was wildin
Talkin bout how you ran the island in eighty-nine
Laying up playing the yard with crazy shine
I cocked a baby 9 that nigga gave me mine clanked 'em
What was he thinking on my corner when it pay me time
Dug 'em you owe me cousin something told me plug 'em
So dumb felt my leg burn then it got numb
Spun around and shot one, heard shots and dropped son
Caught a hot one, somebody take his biscuit before the cops come
Then they come asking me my name, what the fuck
I got stitched up and went through the
left hospital that same night
What I got my gat back, time to backtrack
I had to drop so how the fuck I get clapped
Black was in the jeep watching all these scenes speed by
It was a brown datsun and yo nobody in my hood got one
That clown niggaz through blazing out his crew daily
The bridge touched me up severely hear me
So when I rhyme it's sincerely yours be lightin
El's sippin Coors on all floors in project halls
Contemplating war niggaz I was cool
With before we used to score together
Uptown copping the raw but a-a thug changes
and love changes and best friends become strangers
Word up

Yo to them thug niggaz gettin it on in the world ya know
To them thug niggaz that locked down doing their thing
Surviving know what I'm saying?
To my thorough niggaz New York and world wide
Yo to the Queens Bridge militia 9-6 shit the firm clique

How come people never talk about how so many of the best hip-hop artists espouse doctrines like those of the NOI and the 5% Movement in their lyrics? I hear so many people talking about how people like Rakim, Nas, etc are the best rappers of all time, and yet, the underlying messages of their lyrics seems to go right above the heads of those same people making the claim. If anything, people need to be made aware of this aspect of hip-hop.

Years ago, I used to listen to all sorts of hip-hop, but I find it harder and harder to listen to that same music because it contains so many hidden messages and supports movements that hold ideas that are the height of absurdity. I mean, as a white, I find it hard to listen to emcees who implicitly assert that, for example, whites were created 6,000 years ago by a mad scientist who died at the age of 152. It also scares me a bit that many of these artists have become de-facto leaders of their communities, and yet, many of them continue to hold and spread the kind of ignorance that I spoke of before. Many of these artists claim to be enlightened, to drop knowledge, and yet, they believe these sorts of things and proliferate this sort of ignorance in their communities?

I'm not even sure what the point is in all of this, seeing as it's not really phrased as a question, but I felt that it needed to be said. Maybe you agree with me about these certain beliefs, maybe you disagree, but the topic is so often ignored, that I felt the need to bring it up in some fashion so that it could be spoken about. I would like to note that some of these doctrines have their strong points, among them a focus on stable family environments, the education of children, and peace, so don't get it all confused.

So I think I'm a bit late on this, but I was wondering where everyone stands on the demigodz/weathermen beef? I just started readin about it recently, and found these mp3's.

I love def jux, but I don't think they're, for the most part, cut out for a battle like this. The clips of Vast Aire on mercy killing make him sound so whack, it's just embarrasing.

We're famous was a pretty decent reply diss, but I don't think El-P should have gotten involved. Both 7l and El-p are mad talented, but in different ways, and in my opinion, both have their place. I don't really think it's ground for beef.

So If your album wanna feature us / cough up that dough like you was chokin on pizza crust
So I initially wrote of Aesop Rock as pretentious nerd rap, but I gave it a more in depth listen and it's amazing. I gotta go pick up Labor Days.

I picked up Sabacolypse, from sabac, and Dangerous Connection from 7l and es. Sabacolyps is aright, but he's got nothing on Immo Tech. DC is tight man, 7L is a great producer.
